Study Zones provide homework assistance and resources to children and teens in branch libraries.

Bookmarks and posters and handbills outline what’s available and the handbills are provided in 4 different languages.

The design utilizes a character from the Homework Help advertising campaign, sending the message to get into the Study Zone! The typography, character and colour serve to position the Study Zone to appeal to children and young teens in search of assistance in a trusted place after classes.

Designed to appeal to the same market as VPL’s Homework Help virtual reference service, The get Carded campaign focused on encouraging young teens to convert their children’s library cards into full-fledged adult cards.

The campaign was delivered to schools throughout Vancouver. Along with the presentations, the Library circulated information sheets, bookmarks and buttons.

Card conversion rates went up when teens were made aware of the privileges and services that came automatically and free of charge with the adult card.

The design of the material was based on the successful Homework Help marketing materials, and Susan Camilleri-Konar again created an original and eye-catching illustration of a young man proudly showing his library card.

The character is placed on a bright green Loony Toons background of eye-popping concentric rings, and the typography ties the work to other library materials designed for young people.

The small buttons displayed just the invitation to Get Carded, and the posters and bookmarks caught attention from far away.
